Hello There!

hello

I am back!  It has been several months since I last posted on my little blog (wow!) and I finally decided to get back to it.  Last time I checked in, Maverick was barely 1 month old and the mama thing was still so brand new.  Now, Mav is 5 months old (can you believe it!!) and I am getting the hang of this parenting thing.  Each month gets easier and easier, especially as Mav has gotten used to his new environment (saying goodbye to the warm, cozy womb is not an easy task) and we have all gotten a little routine going.  A lot has happened in the last few months, so a major update is in order.
First of all, my little family moved (at the end of March) after my Nana's beloved old house was sold.  It was sad and difficult (moving with a 3 month old is no fun), but we said our goodbyes and found a new place to call home.  We moved into a small 2 bedroom house near our old neighborhood, which we love!  Our space is small and perfect (a lot less to clean and maintain).  We are all settled in and I will give a house tour soon.
I celebrated my first Mother's Day!  It was wonderful and I am beyond the moon happy being the mama of my little guy.  It has changed me in so many ways and that's a good thing.  Tomorrow we celebrate Toby's first Father's Day-yay!
We are still breastfeeding and it has become second nature.  The first few months were challenging-Maverick latched on great, but I had a bit of an oversupply, so he often choked and gagged while nursing and I had to deal with several plugged ducts & engorgement for a while.  Now, things are great and I truly enjoy nursing him and it seems that my supply has worked itself out-whew!  Breastfeeding has probably been the hardest part of becoming a new mom, but I stuck with it and am so happy I did!
I am applying for jobs and hoping to go back to work in mid-late August (Mav will be 7 months old).  I know this will be a whole new challenge, especially since I plan on continuing to breastfeed.  Soon, I will be pumping my heart out and I am hoping it works out.  We plan on introducing baby boy to solids  next month but breast milk for the most part will still be his main source of food.  We are hoping that Toby can mostly take care Maverick when I go back to work, which will be so ideal for everyone.  Crossing our fingers!!!
Finally, Miya dog is adjusting well-to her new home and her demoted position as top "dog" around here.  She loves the baby and is a major mama dog to Mav, so we are very proud of her!
Maverick turns 5 months officially on Monday, so I will be back with a rundown of his favorite things and some awesome photos!  We love this jellybean more each day!  And, I am happy to be blogging again-I missed being creative and writing!

And, a peek at the cutest little guy ever!
